Last week, Flow joined WWT in stepping away from AI roadmaps and infrastructure rollouts to focus on something even more meaningful: human connection.
Hosted by Paul Richards and the leadership team at Richard House Children's Hospice, London's oldest children's hospice, we were privileged to spend a day where compassion led the way, and technology quietly supported from behind the scenes.
In today's world, reliable wireless isn't a luxury; it's a lifeline. A comprehensive wireless survey was conducted throughout the hospice using Ekahau, a professional-grade Wi-Fi design tool, ensuring that every space, from family rooms to clinical areas, enjoys stable and secure connectivity.
This means smoother access to medical records, uninterrupted support services, and the ability for families to stay connected with loved ones, near and far. Even the gardens were included, because comfort, peace, and connection should reach every corner where families gather, reflect, and heal.
Beyond the technical work, the day offered something more profound. As we walked through the hospice's tranquil gardens and paused at the memorial to the children cared for there, the usual pace of our work gave way to quiet reflection.
It was a moment to listen, to learn, and to honour the strength and compassion that define Richard House's mission.
As Paul Richards shared:
"When life is limited, you have to live it to its fullest, and this is exactly what we try to provide the children with at the Hospice."
That message stayed with us. Technology gave us the tools, but empathy gave us purpose.
This wasn't just a day of service; it was a small gesture of support for a place where every moment matters. We were grateful to contribute in a way, however modest, that helped create comfort, connection, and dignity.
A special shoutout goes to our own George Polycarpou and Kerem Calgar for their hands-on support and dedication throughout the day.
To the teams at Richard House, to everyone who made this day possible, and to the families who welcomed us into their space, thank you. You reminded us that when technology meets compassion, we don't just build networks. We build hope.
